Coffee Breathing

“Coffee Breathing":

A yoga teacher named Lucas Rockwood calls breathing practice Breath of Fire: Coffee Breathing.

Breath of Fire is energizing, like a cup of coffee.

In other words, if you're feeling a little less alert than you'd like to be, try this instead of a cup of coffee.

I do this in the morning, or before sitting down to write, or when I have to go out at night!

 

  • Sit comfortably upright in a chair or on the floor.

  • Quickly snap/contract your belly in while you exhale, like you're blowing out birthday candles through your nose.

  • Let the air just come back in naturally.

  • It's like a strong repeated reverse sniff.

  • Repeat 20x.

  • You can do it at a pace which is comfortable, but it should be a fairly quick with some force.

  • Do 3 rounds of 20, breathing normally for 15-20 seconds between rounds.

 

How do you feel? More awake? Great!

NOT recommended to do before going to bed!
